Jigarthanda DoubleX Movie Review 2023

 

 

After 2014’s Jigarthanda, Karthik Subbaraj returns with another story that brings cinema and rowdiness together in one compelling package: Jigarthanda DoubleX is an ode to filmmaking featuring an upbeat soundtrack by Tirru and stunning cinematography by her.

Raghava Lawrence gives an outstanding performance as Caesar in this movie, while SJ Suryah makes an impression as Ray Dasan. Nimisha Sajayan, Shine Tom Chacko and Ilavarasu round out an exceptional cast.

 

Story line

 

 

After an extended absence, Karthik Subbaraj returns with Jigarthanda DoubleX starring Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah from Kollywood’s celebrated director Karthik Subbaraj’s 2014 hit Jigarthanda. It marks a sequel.

This story follows a fictional filmmaker as they infiltrate into the inner circle of an extremely dangerous gangster under pretense of filmmaking, yet their true goal is murdering them instead. It is both a revenge tale and social commentary at its core.

Though the movie does a quick job of introducing its characters and plot, after this it loses some steam and suffers from some logical gaps that sometimes hinder viewing pleasure. Still, its entertaining and captivating nature keep audiences engaged throughout.

SJ Suryah and Raghava Lawrence give outstanding performances. Their chemistry together is truly outstanding. In addition, other cast members including Nimisha Sajayan, Naveen Chandra, Shine Tom Chacko and others do a fine job as well.

Jigarthanda DoubleX excels on technical aspects and its cinematography is brilliant, thanks to Thiru. Music by Santosh Narayanan elevates otherwise ordinary scenes into something extraordinary. Unfortunately, director Sandeep Srivastav could have made more efforts at crafting an intricate script – yet, matching its predecessor may prove difficult – nonetheless Jigarthanda DoubleX makes for a worthy sequel!

Karthik Subbaraj has once again created an outstanding film with Jigarthanda DoubleX. A multilayered narrative film with social themes, this tale centers around an amateur filmmaker who infiltrates into a gangster’s inner circle in an attempt to document their world. Although initially slow in moving forward, once Jigarthanda DoubleX gets underway it grips viewers thanks to riveting narration and excellent performances.

Raghava Lawrence truly stands out as Caesar in this film, showing off his talents to their fullest extent and leaving viewers wondering whether he can tackle any role put before him by any director. SJ Suryah delivers another stunning performance as the film’s antagonist; making you hate him even more so than Raghava Lawrence did as Caesar! Naveen Chandra does an outstanding job as well in her role as police officer.

Nimisha Sajayan and Shine Tom Chacko both shine as leads, with Ilavarasu and Bava Chelladurai delivering strong supporting performances as Ilavarasu and Bava Chelladurai making an impression in supporting roles as well. Jigarthanda DoubleX is a thrilling gangster thriller with gripping action scenes, incredible performances, outstanding music compositions and exceptional cinematography; though some sequences were unnecessary over-the-top; overall it should not be missed by fans of all things gangster-based.

Karthik Subbaraj makes his comeback to film after an extended hiatus with Jigarthanda DoubleX. Starring Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah in lead roles, this director-helmed project has already generated much excitement for release in 2023.

Jigarthanda Prequel takes place during the 1970s and follows a filmmaker and gangster as they collaborate to produce a Western movie together. Nimisha Sajayan, Naveen Chandra, and Shine Tom Chacko play key roles.

Karthik Subbaraj once again proves his mastery of period action cinema with this thrilling movie, adding new dimensions with innovative visuals from Tirru. Santhosh Narayanan’s soundtrack also delivers.

Though the movie started off slowly, it eventually gained steam after just a few days. Receiving positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, and earning over Rs 2.96 crore on day 1, its box office performance has exceeded all expectations; word-of-mouth recommendations continue to drive business to digital platforms as it becomes an anticipated blockbuster hit in its future form.

Karthik Subbaraj’s Jigarthanda DoubleX offers an unforgettable cinematic experience. The director has masterfully crafted a film with multilayered layers that delivers a powerful social message while upholding high technical standards with Santhosh Narayanan providing an outstanding score and Thiru’s cinematography enhancing its overall feel.

This film begins slowly but quickly gains viewer engagement through its captivating narration and incredible performances from its cast. Raghava Lawrence takes center stage as Caesar, a gangster with dreams of making his own film; SJ Suryah portrays Ray Sir, an intimidating police officer; Nimisha Sajayan, Shine Tom Chacko, and Naveen Chandra are among other members.

Jigarthanda DoubleX marks another excellent cinematic work from its director. The script contains many references to old Westerns, with Lawrence’s character becoming an avid fan of Clint Eastwood (he even owns his own theater called Clintis Talkies!).

Jigarthanda DoubleX’s director’s interpretation of Lawrence as an antihero filmmaker is intriguing and brings out her best performance in this film, making it essential viewing for fans of Lawrence. Overall, this fascinating tale will keep audiences gripped until its dramatic conclusion; not forgetting gangster movie lovers! This one hits theaters November 10. Check out its trailer below.
